About Making the Jump
Making the Jump comments on the jumps, twists and unexpected turns on life’s journey. While Making the Jump originally began as a focused tool to help lawyers contemplating, or in the midst of, a career change, it now includes information that impacts life and career change choices - everything from relationships to personal finance to having a family.
The blog’s title is inspired by a forward page in Deborah Aaron’s book, What Can You Do With a Law Degree?:
In a Buddhist fable, a man falls from a steep ledge. On his way down, he grabs a branch on the side of the cliff. Clinging to the branch, he sees a small, grassy plateau nearby. If he could only get to it, his life would be saved. Suddenly, from nowhere, the man hears a voice, Let go of the branch and jump. You can make it! The man is paralyzed. Should he trust the voice? One wrong move might cost him his life. On the other hand, dangling from a branch is no way to live either. What to do, what to do? Hanging off the side of the cliff, the man weighs his options. What would it take to trust the voice?
A leap of faith.
